Audition Frequently Asked Questions
How old do i have to be to audition?
Depends on the show. Age requirements will be announced with audition information 4-8 weeks before show dates.
What if i have no performing experience?
No problem! We welcome participants from all backgrounds from no experience to professionals.
Do I bring anything to auditions?
If you're under 18, bring a parent or guardian to help you fill out and sign the application form. Rarely does anything have to be prepared beforehand. The only exception is for musical auditions which require you to sing a short song which you would do well to practice before you come. Otherwise, bring yourself, your talent, and your confidence!
What will I have to do in auditions?
You'll be asked to read out loud selections from the script. For musicals, you'll also be asked to sing a song if you are auditioning for a singing role and may be taught some simple choreography as part of a group exercise.
What if my child can't read yet?
We'll ask them to perform age appropriate acting games.
Where are auditions?
Most auditions are held at the Latta, but in 2015 we did out first show in Adamsville, The Curse of the Werewolf, and those auditions were held in Adamsville. Locations will be verified on the audition announcements made on our Facebook page 4-8 weeks before show dates.
When are auditions?
Audition dates are typically announced on our Facebook page about 4-8 weeks before show dates. Special instructions beyond what's covered here will be posted there as well.
What does it cost to participate?
There are no participation fees. Cast members may occasionally be asked to provide their own costumes, props, etc., but all of AiM's community theatre programs are free to cast and production crew members.
