Arts   programs

Arts in McNairy is organized into six artistic disciplines and committees.

Performing arts

Coordinates and oversees the community theatre program, hosts improv performances, and mentors the next generation of actors, directors, and theatre technicians in cooperation with AiM Creatives.

Music

Plans music events in the community and at the Latta, coordinates concerts with the Stephen Foster Music Club of Selmer, and organizes community band and chorus functions in cooperation with Performing Arts.

visual arts

Is responsible for most of the displays and exhibits in the Latta galleries, coordinates learning and social opportunities for local artists, and oversees all public art programs. ​

Literary

Hosts a book club, writer's group, sponsors book signings and receptions for authors and occasionally publishes volumes of prose and poetry by local authors.

Folklife

Provides ongoing cultural assessment and support for McNairy County's traditional arts, curates the AiM Cultural Collection, and periodically publishes materials related to McNairy County's cultural heritage. ​

Diversity

Provides direction for the organization to plan inclusive programs for underserved populations in the community and to recognize and promote the artwork of people of color and people with disabilities.

AIM Creatives

Arts in McNairy also sponsors AiM Creatives which seeks to engage and mentor the next generation of arts leadership. The organization also establishes provisional committees in response to emerging community needs or requests.  These committees explore new avenues of creativity under the AiM umbrella and often attain to program committee status.  The current provisional committees are:  The Culinary Committee, Songwriters Unlimited, McNairy Amateur Photographers, and the Arts Education Committee.
