Arts in McNairy was founded in 2001 on the principle that community arts is a key cornerstone for development of a healthy community. Over the past 11 years, AiM has demonstrated this principle through projects, performances, events and exploration of McNairy County's cultural heritage. For these efforts, AiM has continually received praise and attention on a local, state and national level including a grant from the Library of Congress for the recently discovered Littlejohn collection of roots music. This music collection with performances by Carl Perkins and other West Tennessee artists of the 1940's and 50s, is the precursor of the Rockabilly music genre. AiM has also left its indelible mark on downtown Selmer, TN with two beautiful Rockabilly-inspired murals by nationally renowned artist and hometown boy, Brian Tull.
