Arts   Programs

Something for everyone

Arts in McNairy is organized in program committees that engage the creative community in six distinct disciplines: 

Performing Arts

Coordinates and oversees the community theatre program, hosts improv performances, and mentors the next generation of actors, directors, and theatre technicians.

Music

Plans music events in all genres at the Latta, and on various community stages, cooperates with other local and regional organizations to fund music performances, education and  appreciation efforts.

Visual Arts

Is responsible for most of the displays and exhibits in the Latta galleries, coordinates learning and social opportunities for local artists, and oversees all public art programs. ​

Literary

Hosts literary events, sponsors book signings and receptions for local and regional authors, and occasionally publishes volumes of prose and poetry by local writers.

Folklife

Provides ongoing cultural assessment, support, and programming for McNairy County's traditional arts community and curates the Tennessee Folklife Learning Center at the Latta. ​

Media Arts

Is dedicated to promoting art forms that fall under the digital media umbrella, hosting a short film festival, workshops, and occasional cinematic features and other media related events. 

Diversity

Provides support and direction for the organization's leadership to plan programs that reach underserved populations including people living in isolated, rural settings, people of color, and people living with disabilities. The committee hosts annual Black History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations at the Latta.

AIM Creatives & Provisional Committees

AiM Creatives is a  youth driven program that seeks to engage and mentor the next generation of arts leadership. The organization also establishes provisional committees in response to emerging community needs or requests. Provisional committees explore new avenues of creativity under the AiM umbrella, and often attain to full program committee status.
