AiM began its first theatre season in 2001, performing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the Selmer Community Center. Over the next few years, AiM developed a reputation for childrens theatre, putting on an average of four performances a year at the McNairy Central High School Little Theatre. Volunteer directors and actors came from all over the surrounding area, forming a true community theatre. The troupe was nomadic, holding open auditions at the Selmer Community Center and rehearsals at various public buildings or churches. The program slowly continued to grow, incorporating adults, tackling more ambitious plays and musicals. These performance opportunities attracted hundreds of amateur actors and increasingly wider audiences.
Finally, in 2012, AiM gained a home of its own in the Latta Visitors' and Cultural Center. The last show of the 2011-12 theatre season, Into the Woods, marked the christening of the new theatre there. The Performing Arts Committee now produces an average of four to six plays, musicals, and revues a year in the beautiful, state of the -art, 200-seat venue, the Latta! And, the program continues to attract new actors and audiences from the surrounding area.
