Heritage and Cultural Arts

A Word about Cultural Assets- AiM believes that sharing home-grown arts and cultural assets is vital to civic understanding and pride in the arts. AiM maintains a standing committee devoted to ongoing cultural asset inventory, assessment and planning. AiM's Heritage and Culture Committee regularly holds community listening sessions, collects survey data and interacts with individuals to determine the most prized facets of local culture. This approach allows for community feedback and regularly turns up gems from the region's current and past cultural landscape. The collected information is evaluated for programming or preservation potential and referred to the appropriate committee or outside agency for action. Asset based development of this kind offers a fresh, sustainable, approach to serving the community which lends itself to respectful cultural authenticity, creative place making, continual expansion of AiM's constituency and improved cultural tourism potential.
