Vicki Sisco-Cowan was raised on a farm in southeast Kansas. As a child she spent her few leisure hours making "mud" animals and forms and writing poetry. She graduated magna-cum-laude from the University of Arkansas in 1996, majoring in writing and art. After moving to Missouri, she co-owned and operated a gallery/art shop. In 1998 Vicki and her husband moved to Selmer where she started Sypress Creek Stoneware.

Vicki's pottery incorporates hand-building and wheel-thrown techniques. She builds functional as well as sculptural pieces. "My goal as a potter is to make a piece colorful, interesting and substantial." Vicki uses several different clays and a vast palette of glaze colors. She continually experiments with forms and functions and her pieces run the gamut from classic to contemporary.
