To learn the art of woodturning I borrowed and old lathe from a friend and started turning. As I progressed my husband and I created the tools and techniques to expand and refine the sculptures I envisioned. I invented a lot of my own methods of turning because the tools to turn inside a 36” tall sculpture are not available nor are there many people who can teach the needed skills. I started woodturning in Ignacio, Colorado I now reside in McNairy, Tennessee where I have my own woodworking shop at my home. I turn not only contemporary sculptures on my lathe but traditional bowls and plates with an unusual twist. My goal in wood turning is to show the natural beauty of the wood and still show the character of the tree as it was when it was standing in the forest.
